Doing my Tesco shop on-line and just noticed there is a big warning about not eating these products raw. My DDs don't seem to have come to any harm and I thought it was a healthy thing to give them. Any ideas why this might not be a good idea?

Choking hazard??? Although that's never worried me! I've heard they really help with teething. DD prefers hers cooked though.

Hadn't thought of that, although my kids are 6 so obviously not a worry now. Plus they are very tiny aren't they, surely lumps of rusk or other finger foods would be more of a hazard.

Mine queue up to get their frozen peas from the freezer, now they have to have whole bowls of the stuff
Surely too small to be choking risk, but i imagine a choking risk in the way that all food stuffs are choking risk

DD loves frozen peas. But after a while she complains they are too cold. So, presumable she is looking for warm frozen peas. Weirdo.

We haven't tried cord.

I can't think of any reason they'd be harmful to a 4 year old.

DS loves them. Nigella suggests them as a quick snack!

my dd likes frozen peas too, but won't eat them once they are defrosted! They are not raw though are they - just frozen?

ScottishMummy · 25/05/2007 12:11

yep bubba ispea and sweetcorn fan

fireflyfairy2 · 25/05/2007 12:13

Do you give them to the kids frozen??

I usually warm them through, whether they are frozen or from a tin..

twynkle · 25/05/2007 12:15

My dd will only eat them straight from the freezer. She won't eat them cooked, or even thawed!

cadelaide · 25/05/2007 12:15

Ooooh, we've only just discovered frozen peas in this house, thought we were alone on that one.
Now I no longer have to keep it as an embarrassing secret.

ScottishMummy · 25/05/2007 14:49

i do cook em but will try straight from freezer

MissGolightly · 25/05/2007 14:51

I used to have them as a treat as a child! never came to any harm (I, too, think it may be a choking thing)

My step-D scoffs them by the bowl full - she is 15, and DS gets in on the act and scoffs them too; he doesnt ask for them unless she has them.
