why do some foods just vanish and where's all the smoked tofu gone?

Just to confirm my tofu welding status, has anyone seen smoked tofu recently? It's vanished from all my local shops and it's fairly integral to my broccoli and hoi sin stir fry god dammit.

Why does this happen? Is there a tofu shortage? It's not like I live in Glastonbury, or Totnes, or anywhere you'd expect a run on tofu. It's Manchester and I demand to know where it's all gone.

Same thing with Quorn pieces not long ago too. Perhaps it's seasonal?

Agree about Quorn pieces. They have now been replaced by much smaller bags, but same price

bohemianbint · 22/05/2007 12:55

tofu is fairly rubbish unless you get it smoked, or marinated or sommat.

Supermarkets drop lines very quickly. If you ask at an independent health food store they will probably order it in for you if they don't have it.

That's a very good question - we are finding that too. Even our health food shops keep selling out.

I know autumn is tofu season in Japan. Does that help?

Have seen smoked tofu recently in Tescos. Sainsburys sell the marinated tofu pieces (yum) and Holland and Barret sometimes have smoked tofu too.
