How long will homemade cake last in the fridge?

And whats best to cover them with (will foil keep them fresh?)

One is cheesecake and another sponge but also with cream cheese frosting. I need them for Friday but only have some time on Wednesday to make them.

They should be fine. Loosely tented foil or a big tub or tin with a lid to stop them drying out.

You shouldn't put sponge cake in the fridge for the same reason you don't put bread in the fridge - it goes stale quicker.
