Just that really! Do people still eat sardines? What do you put them on/in? Help me fall in love with sardines.

I love them on pizza, one of my favourite toppings, with olives and mushrooms and plenty of cheese.

Pasta sauce with onions, garlic, pine nuts, raisins, chilli, tomato and sardines. Delicious. I made a nice Keralan sardine curry too.

Thick slice of ciabatta, spread with pesto, slices of tomato on top, squodge on sardines, sprinkle of cheddar, under grill. So so tasty!

This is one of my favourite ways of eating me snack when you've got time to do anything open it in squash and sardines a bit plenty of Peppa Wolfhound piece of nice bread to mop up the juice I've got a bit more time taken out of the tin mash and like most of the said warmed on toast quick easy cheap and healthy. Manchester bombings are perfectly edible and safe they crumble like pilchard bones do

I love sardines.

Tinned on toast or in a salad or with noodles or pasta.

Or fresh, grilled, by the med.

DH loves them. The rest of us hate the smell. DH only has them when the rest of us are away. Either that or he has to eat them in the garden Grin

This is delicious, and just as nice with tinned sardines.

Love sardines. I like it on toast and chopped up in pasta

UrsulaPandress · 01/06/2018 20:39

I sometimes heat up a ton of tomatoes and chuck a tin of sardines in.

Delicious

I love tinned fish! Just as well - food of the poor! I normally put them in a pasta dish or in a salad. My real fave though is mackeral which I often do with pasta.

Taytotots · 07/06/2018 20:13

I like them on toast with banana slices and melted cheese on top. Sounds weird but is a great combination.

The bones are very soft and can be eaten. Excellent source of calcium. I don't think there would be much risk of choking for an adult, but it's worth checking about the risk to a toddler. I've never bothered to remove them.

We have them on toast, done this way. Put one or two slices of bread per person under the grill. Toast one side lightly. Turn over. Spoon sardines onto untoasted side of bread along with oil or tomato sauce. Put back under the grill till heated through and edges of bread are toasted. Squeeze a little lemon juice over and serve. Delicious. I like sardines tinned in tomato sauce. My husband prefers his in olive oil.

I've never understood why anyone would be squeamish about eating tinned fish like this. Are you squeamish about eating tinned tuna? Genuine question, I'm not being snarky. I like tinned salmon on occasion too. Takes me back to my childhood when salmon sandwiches were a very special treat. Tinned mackerel and pilchards are also good on toast. Tinned or bottled anchovies are great.

SinceWhenDid · 07/06/2018 20:30

I only ever eat them straight out of the tin Grin
