Cabbage

Hello

I've started getting a veg box of different fruit and veg to expand my cooking. This week I've got a sweetheart cabbage and half a large red cabbage. I've got no idea what to do with them other boiling.

Has anyone got any ideas. My DH doesn't really like cabbage either but I think he's only had it boiled

Thank you

Roasted red cabbage with balsamic vinegar

Coleslaw with red cabbage

Both are nice finely shredded in a stir fry along with other veg.

Braised red cabbage is delish with sausages and mash.

I like sweetheart cabbage sauted in butter and garlic and stired through pasta with pesto and peas and broccoli.

Fry the sweetheart with onion and bacon, add a little veg stock so it softens up.

Search for the Guardian's 'smothered cabbage and sausage' recipe. It's a take on an Italian recipe, and works well with sweetheart cabbage and Cumberland-style sausages.

My absolutely favourite!

Shred it really finely, salt and let sit in a seive for 20mjns. Squeeze all the moisture out and then dress with a honey mustard vinaigrette. Sooooo good! Lovely with cold roast meats/ham/quiche. Makes a change from coleslaw or salad.

Add to a minestrone soup, I think Jamie has a recipe for a lighter spring version.
Definitely coleslaw.
Stuffed cabbage leaves.

Make kimchi
it's a good way to use up any other fruit/veg oddments you have too like carrot, apples, pears.
