Help with buckwheat!

Any experts on grains out there?
I've frozen some buckwheat as part of a meal (so has other veg etc mixed in) and am defrosting overnight in the fridge.
Is it safe to eat cold once defrosted or do I need to heat it first?

I can't help on buckwheat specifically but I defrost rice, freekeh and barley semi-regularly. I must admit I do heat it through first (usually straight from frozen into a hot wok). I think it helps the texture too.

I would probably heat yours through in the microwave or fry it off before eating it and then let it cool if you want it at room temp. You mainly just want to avoid it sitting around at room temperature for ages.

Husband was planning on taking it to work tomorrow so he'll have to microwave it rather than fry. Sounds like it may be best to heat it through then.

I would - it will taste nicer anyway, and if a few mins waiting for the ping keeps him from getting food poisoning then all the better!
