Dessert wine

Sat down to what I thought would be a pleasant glass of white this evening, and gagged after the first sip - clearly I wasn't quite focused when doing the Tesco shop and picked up a dessert wine by accident.

I can't drink anything that sweet. Is there anything I can add to make it palatable? Or is it destined to go down the sink?

Post it to me? Is it Sauternes? Grin

Eat something that suits it. Pate. Strawberries. Google.

EtonianMother · 05/05/2018 22:52

Pate. Yes!

MESSING2 · 05/05/2018 22:53

Heh, Etonian - no, it isn't. Is that a good one, then? (Clueless)

Yes, Sauternes is very nice. What did you buy?

sexnotgender · 05/05/2018 22:55

Have you tried drinking it with dessert?

Sounds like a stupid question but I dislike wine like Sauternes on it’s own but it’s lovely with food.

EtonianMother · 05/05/2018 22:56

BTW, Messing2, the idea of dessert wine is that you are already quite drunk when you get to that point. It tastes better then. Honestly. Save it?

MESSING2 · 05/05/2018 22:56

Tiger - pate sounds splendid, will give it a try though I just don't like drinking very sweet things. Sadly (for my teeth/belly) this doesn't extend to food - I can happily scarf down a tub of ice cream.

It's Premiere Cote de Bordeaux, so not a high-end one. So I need to get sloshed on something else and then get stuck into it, preferably with food? I'm starting to warm to it...

Ha ha. I hate sweet food. But somehow I can cope with Sauternes, post supper. Send it my way, Messing. I will send you ice-cream in return [can't do emojis, other than the MN ones, but would do a sick one at this point] Grin

EtonianMother · 05/05/2018 23:01

Messing, if you are not sending it my way, then preliminarily sloshed is the answer. Grin

I love jurançon as an apperatif or with/instead of dessert. Just try it. You might like it!

MESSING2 · 05/05/2018 23:03

Deal, Etonian Grin

I’d say have it over a ton of ice - or cold almost to the point of freezing and chop up some strawberries in it?
