Pressure cookers...

My 6 litre slow cooker has broken leaving me just with a smaller one. I would like to replace it but then someone on another thread suggested a pressure cooker. I'm really not sure as my only experience of a pressure cooker was as a child waiting for the valve to blow off! Obviously things have moved on since then so I would welcome your experiences, good or bad of modern pressure cookers and any recommendations of makes or models to go for. I have looked at some of the Pressure King range.

I've got the 8L Instant Pot and love it it can also be used as a slow cooker (but I've not tried that yet)

Have used a pressure cooker for decades, cooks really quick & well. Never had one blow up

I have a pressure cooker. I mostly use it for mashed potatoes and stock. I don't think stews etc taste as nice from the pressure cooker as they do from a slow cooker.

I have an instant pot and love it. It’s much more than a pressure cooker. I use it to make risottos frequently, and stews/casseroles, and soups (with a stick blender at the end), and yoghurt. You can also make wonderful things like cheesecakes (done this 3 times with great success) and rice pudding. If I’m really lazy I’ll even use it to make rice. I’ve used the slow cooker function too and it works well.

Pros:
Can cook loads of exciting things.
Saves electricity compared to oven.
Delicious tender meat.
Quicker than the slow cooker, but can also be used as a slow cooker if the timing is better that way.
Safe to put it on and leave it while you do something else.

Cons:
Steam release is noisy and messy. So I tend to use natural release for most things.
All your ingredients need to have similar cooking times, as it’s hard to add things mid-cook.
Once you get attached to it you’ll try to cook EVERYTHING in it (which doesn’t always work).

I’ve got a tefal Jamie Oliver pressure cooker, I cook red meat in it mostly it cooks lamb in twenty minutes to a falling of the bone consistency.

Can also cook rice in it, I also cook lentil curries in it takes about ten minutes.

My mum has always had a pressure cooker so I have as well. It’s freat for cooking foods fast, basically sauté onions and meat then pour on liquid and close the lid to cook.

I have a seperate multi cooker to cook rice/porridge/slow cook.
