Tinned new potatoes and tinned ham! Ways to use them up that we'd enjoy eating?

These aren't items we usually buy but I want us to use them, and I know they won't get eaten "as is" so was hoping for some suggestions on recipes I could incorporate them into? Hopefully someone has some ideas! Grin

Slice the potatoes
Dice the ham
Sprinkle cheese or breadcrumbs (or both) on top and bake.

My go too comfort food is tinned new potatoes in oxtail soup.... not everyone’s favourite but when I want warm comfort food that’s my go to..

What about slicing up the potatoes and sautéing them to use as an accompanying side dish?

The ham could be used in a chicken, ham and leek pie?

Slice an onion, your potatoes and ham, heat them in a pan and add eggs. Serve with salad.

Scalloped potatoes and ham - think it's a Pioneer Woman recipe - google?

I think tinned potatoes are oddly nice cooked into other dishes. Fritatta as has already been said, also in a quick curry with tinned chickpeas and some spinach.

Spanish omelette.

Potato salad? Dice the ham up and mix it into spaghetti carbonara?

flissfloss65 · 29/04/2018 12:34

I’d put it all in the oven, roast potatoes and roast ham with veg.

Tinned potatoes are fine in a curry with spinach.

Thanks for all these ideas! I used the potatoes yesterday, I just tried roasting them in some oil, herbs, salt and pepper and they came out quite nice. Smile

I like the idea of using the ham in a quiche or frittata, or carbonara. It's quite a big tin so I could probably do both. Smile
