Lovely in fish pie

Lovely in a risotto - with peas, broad beans and courgettes - or any combination of.

Or just as a side vegetable - "balsamic leeks" - fry gently in butter in a saucepan for about 10 mins, uncovered - then add generous splashes of balsamic vinegar, cover and cook for another 5 mins - delicious.

In mashed potato. Yum.

babypowder · 14/05/2007 17:29

Steam them, then wrap them in parma ham and bung in the oven with a simple cheese sauce for half an hour or so. YUM!

janeite · 14/05/2007 19:32

Mashed up with cheese into baked potatoes and then baked again.

Layered with sliced potato, cream poured over, cover with foil then bake for ages; remove foil for last 20 mins or so to brown the top.

When you cook Shepherds Pie, chop up the leeks finely and sprinkly on top of the mash, then sprinkle chees over the top. It's quite yum.

lulumama · 14/05/2007 19:36

i roasted baby leeks last week, in some white whine, and lots of fresh parmesan shavings, was delish!

stressteddy · 14/05/2007 19:37

NutterlyUts · 14/05/2007 19:39

Chicken and leek

Cook chicken however (I like boiling it), add leeks in cheese sauce and bung in the oven about 20mins before serving, serve w/mash. Mmm

janeite · 14/05/2007 19:41

lulumama · 14/05/2007 19:42

oh bum!! not the worst typo i;ve ever made, but pretty close !!

lilolilmanchester · 15/05/2007 16:45

leeks great in stews, especially with pork. Or in cheese sauce served with bacon.
My mum used to make a steamed leek and bacon suet pudding. Don't have a recipe but it was great comfort food on a cold north eastern day!

AUBINA · 15/05/2007 18:07

Finely slice 1 leek and 1 courgette per person. Cook in melted butter and lots of ground black pepper. At the same time cook some pasta shapes. When the veg are tender, stir in a boursin cheese. Mix all together.
