Just out of interest... introducing kids to spicy food - what happens in 'spicy' lands?

Does anyone have the answer to a question I've been pondering over dinner tonight. My DD (now 16m) has always been exposed to a range of tastes - garlicky, curry, and slightly spicy. She loves most of it and tonight wolfed down Nasi Goreng noodles. I've not dared try anything really hot or too curried though, which makes me wonder how people in countries where food is generally hotter and spicier introduce their kids to the strong tastes. Can anyone tell me??? I ate lots of spicy food when breastfeeding, so maybe she's used to the tastes...

Generally they tend to get non-spicy versions ie not very chilli, but will get ginger and garlic tasty versions until they are older and ready to eat the hotter stuff

I give my daughter (8 months) curries made with spices but no chilli. She loves them. Also dal with fried spices is excellent for little ones. I'm planning to add some chilli soon and see how she likes it. I also eat a lot of spicy food and did so throughout pregnancy so am hoping she is used to it!
