What can I do with 100 bananas?

I kid you not! We have so many bananas from our garden I am at a complete loss as to what to do with them all. I've made cakes, puddings, put them in curries, given to DS for his snacks at school. I can't give them away because everyone else is in the same position around here. I can't freeze them can I? Or make face packs? Hair conditioner? Any suggestions?

I can see why they thought that!

Ooops, sorry - he

For a moment there, I thought you said the kids had walked in!

Commercials aren't quite as um, maybe racy is the word, over here. It made for a good laugh anyway.

That was never a 1970s ad?! Really?!

I remember watching it on TV when I was a kid and I was born in '84...

Maybe they 'repeated' it in the 80s to save some money

Yeah, and I bet you ate flakes in your bath tub!

Oh don't set me off. No bl*dy flakes or bath tubs in this country, just f**ing bananas.

No bath tubs??

butterflywings · 11/05/2007 01:49

Califrau, what do you think of these?
Are they better than the flake (less messy) or not as nice??

Albert · 11/05/2007 01:51

Not a common item here no but showers, well, that's another story. We've got 5 in our house and only 3 people live here (me, DH and DS)

Albert · 11/05/2007 01:51

Sorry, can't count...we've got 6 showers

Albert · 11/05/2007 01:53

Oh, don't tempt me. They are yum but not as 'fat' as a flake but definately tidier to eat

butterflywings · 11/05/2007 01:54

6 showers? That's a bit greedy!

How come? If you don't mind me asking...
Where do you keep them all?! lol

Albert · 11/05/2007 02:05

You asked - here goes!
2 are en-suite, 1 in the guest house, 1 for the swimming pool, 1 in the maid's bathroom (whoever that is) and 1 in the 'social' bathroom (the mind boggles)

The 'social' bathroom...

I say!

choc banana bread:

1 1/4 cups self raising flour
30 g butter/marg
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 mashed banana
1/4 cup milk
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp cinnamon
50g choc bits

Sift flour and cinnamon together Rub in the butter stir in the sugar, egg, banana, milk, choc bits. combine well and then spoon into a loaf tin lined with baking powder. Bake for 20 minutes or until cooked.

to make it less calories - I use low fat marg/canola spread, 1/4 cup artificial sweetner like splenda, 1/4 cup caster sugar and low fat milk.

what about peeling, putting on wooden skewer and coating in choc then freezing - serve with cream for a dessert.

They are real nice frozen (so I hear) it seems to be poular here in Australia.

Pop them in frezzer & it's like a banana ice pole!

maisemor · 15/05/2007 13:51

I tend to freeze the ones that we haven't eaten when they go brown, and then use them in muffins or cakes.

So yes you can freeze them.
