Sorry if everybody else knows this already....
I've always been so fed up of wasting at least half of my fresh coriander and just discovered that, if you take it out of the bag, or cut it (if in soil), lightly dampen it, and roll it gently it in kitchen towel and put it in the salad drawer of the fridge, it lasts for a lot longer.

I chuck a square of damp kitchen roll in herb or salad bags and it seems to do the trick too.

Chop and freeze

I'm a wash, chop and freeze gal too. I throw it into curries straight from the freezer.

Weedsnseeds1 · 07/04/2018 13:11

You don't really even need to chop first. Freeze the whole bunch and you can just crumble what you need straight into the dish, then put the rest back in the freezer. Then use stalks in Asian style stocks or broths.
Curry leaves and Kaffir lime leaves freeze well too.

I stick it in a jar of water. Lasts forever.

FluffyWuffy100 · 09/04/2018 20:52

@Lookforthestars same, glass of water in the fridge and it lasts for 1-2 weeks

Qwebec · 09/04/2018 20:59

glass of water and covered with a plastic bag in the fridge lasts about 1 month

Glass of water! Inspired! So obvious, but I'd never thought of it!

oh, great tips, thanks!

Mine's on the windowsill, been there about a month. I have had plants last 2 years and produce seeds.

I've also done the wrap in newspaper and freeze.

If you've got a pot of basil and it starts to rot at the base, cut above that and put in water on the window ledge. Chances are it will start to root.
