Hi, having a party tomorrow for my 40th.
Party starts at 7pm.
What time would you serve the Buffet for ?
Would you then do cake after the buffet ?
TIA

if i was attending a buffet party i would want food to be between 6pm and 8pm as i would be hungry and wanting food ASAP

Are you doing nibbles? If yes then buffet for 8, if no Then buffet 7.30.

I’d do cake straight after and then slice onto plates for people to help themselves with coffee if you’re doing. Happy Birthday!

8 sounds reasonable. You can have the cake after the buffet maybe with a little break in between!

Perfect, thanks for replies.
I've been thinking 8pm but was worried maybe that was too early for a party buffet.
I normally do things like this at home and have the buffet all ready once people arrive.

Couldn't serve for 6pm as party doesn't start til 7pm.

I was wondering whether to do cake first and have it cut up with the buffet but my DH thought do the cake after ?

Think I'm staying to get anxious and over analysis everything !

Buffet at 8 not before

Do the cake after, just cut it up and let people help themselves when they want a piece

Sarahh2014 · 23/03/2018 15:15

8pm

8pm is perfect.

YoucancallmeVal · 23/03/2018 17:32

If you do it much later than 8, people who have not eaten all afternoon will get v drunk v fast!

OhCarrieMathison · 23/03/2018 18:39

This is a very good point YouCanCall WineBlush

I agree about 8pm. Especially as some people may not stay that late (if they've got kids or work the next day etc) so serving food too late may mean that some people don't get any food.

nerofire63 · 24/03/2018 01:14

I would do it at 8. Most people want to eat within an hour of going to a party that will have food. :)

I could be wrong though as I've not been to a party with a buffet for years !

OhCarrieMathison · 24/03/2018 08:01

Good point KitKat, we do have quite a few folks coming with kids who'll probably leave early.
Thanks for replies, 8pm it is !! 🍕🍾🎂
