Help with adjusting cake baking times..

I normally do the most gorgeous chocolate fudge cake recipe which is my favourite. I'd like to use the same recipe but make into cupcakes.
Any idea how I go about adjusting the heat & time for baking?

Trial and error? Try using the same oven temp, and baking one cupcake for 20 mins, then keep checking it.
Once you have one sorted, bake the rest?

I should add that I have no idea what I’m talking about but hopefully now someone will come along and correct me Grin
