AND the garlic cloves!!!!!!!!!! I stopped her having too many though because i was worried about the salt content. Is it ok to have these?

lucyellensmum · 07/05/2007 16:15

yes, i know pecka, it was yummmmmy - and nice and relaxed too as the food came quickly before dd could get bored - the olives helped with that too then she ate a whole corn on the cob and turned her nose up at the chicken strips and fries - oooh, how smug am i!

My ds loves them too - I tend to worry less about the salt cos I only let him have a few at a time as a treat, but I do worry about the potential choking threat - call me paranoid but I chop the olives in half.

I do the same with grapes. Yup, paranoid.

My dd used to love them too and now she wont eat them.

I want Nandos now!

Brangelina · 08/05/2007 11:12

My DD has been popping olives since she was 1. Nothing wrong with it IMO, here it's normal for children to eat them, I just limit them to a few at a time and not every day.

venusinfurs · 08/05/2007 11:15

Hope this isn't too obvious, but you must always always cut them up. My relative is an A&E doc and she told me off once for giving unchopped cherry toms to my 2.5 year old. Apparently loads of children choke on olives too. But yes, mine love 'em too!

lucyellensmum · 08/05/2007 13:32

Now you mention it Venus, yes it is gobsmakingly obvious, same for cherry toms. Lucyellens mum skulks off reminding her self to cut the bloody things up like she should do!!!

I know what you mean - I had the same slightly guilty feeling, but it's amazing how often people don't bother to do it!

lucyellensmum · 08/05/2007 14:08

note to self - cut up the things that are the size of a marble, WHY did i ever think that was ok?
