Pizza bases/doughs/margaritas?

After much experiment I have come to the conclusion that actual homemade pizza is a dead duck in this house, I just can’t do it.

I want to do an ‘add your own toppings’ thing this weekend. Do you ever do this with ready made pizzas or bases? What would you recommend? I’m not caring about homemade ness or authenticity, I just want everyone to enjoy their pizza.

Tesco do chilled pizza dough in a tube and it’s actually pretty good! It’s my favourite v quick midweek meal.

I notice the Gino de Campo I was about to recommend has disappeared. Boo!

Really, OP? What makes you say you can't make it -- what goes wrong? I make it regularly, and think it's fairly foolproof (unless you're using out of date yeast or something...)

300 grammes strong white flour, one sachet easy yeast, pinch of salt, glug of olive oil, and 200 ml warm water -- fire them in the food processor with a dough hook and knead, then cover and leave for an hour somewhere warm. If you have time, punch it down and leave it to rise again. That makes two pizzas for me, so size up if needed, obviously.

The thing I find makes a big difference is using a pre-heated pizza stone to bake it on I think we got ours from Lakeland? and sprinkling the stone with coarse polenta to make the base crispy.

I've had good pre-made pizza dough from a local Italian deli, too.

I get remade frozen dough from Waitrose. I can't remember the name of the brand, but it is in a khaki coloured box. They do three types I think, Rosemary, Plain and Wholemeal. The DC like the wholemeal best. I love them all because it is so easy.

If buy marguerite pizzas then pile on all the toppings and extra cheese, cheddar if I don’t have mozzarella

Waitrose have frozen thin stonebaked pizza bases with the passata already on them. They are nice.

I don't use a pizza stone but instead turn the tray upside down (so the lip is underneath) and heat it up in the oven. I put the pizza dough (s) onto baking parchment and use a cold baking tray to transport it and then slide it onto the tray already in the oven. That way the pizza goes in and starts cooking at the maximum high temperature straight away. Works for me

I used to make pizza dough in my bread maker all the time and I still do but I also make pizza with flour tortillas as the bases and they go down v well. Not authentic and definitely a little sweeter in taste but such a quick and easy tea!

Biscuity - sounds like it could be the wrong sort of flour?

Here's an easy pizza base recipe op. Empty 1x 500 mil tub of Greek style natural yogurt I to a mixing bowl, fill the empty yougurt tub with self raising flour. Mix them together, knead for a couple of minutes, roll it out and put your topping on and stick it in the oven! Cooks in about 20 mins, easy and yum!
