Desserts that go with curry?

I'm making a curry for family at the weekend and I'm wondering what to make for dessert. We have soup for starter and I intend to make some marshmallow ice cream (since I'm dying to try out the recipe!). All ideas gratefully received.

Pineapple tarte tatin
Mango and papaya salad with lime zest
Coconut something
Pistachio something
Coconut and cardamon rice pudding

ALemonyPea · 28/02/2018 19:50

Something chocolatey? Like a chocolate tart? Would go lovely with ice cream.

yawning801 · 28/02/2018 19:53

Thank you both Smile

See I would have done chocolate tart but I sort of made three a couple of weeks ago and I never want to see one again! Grin

Something with fruit sounds nice... I'll have a look!

Can I have the marshmallow ice cream recipe please, @yawning801 ?? That sounds amazing...

cdtaylornats · 28/02/2018 21:40

Kulfi
GulabJamin

stuffstuffeverywhere · 28/02/2018 21:45

Plain, baked cheesecake.

It will taste wonderfully cool and refreshing after the curry. Possibly serve with a spoon of lemon or lime sorbet.

Contrast is what you're after here

Taffeta · 28/02/2018 21:47

Coconut creams with a passion fruit or rhubarb topping
Pineapple fool with coconut biscuit
Roasted pineapple with coconut ice cream

MinnieMousse · 28/02/2018 21:48

I was going to say Kulfi too. Or something mango-based.

Tryingtogetitright · 28/02/2018 21:49

Mint Viennetta Grin

orangina · 28/02/2018 21:49

Mango pannacotta? Coconut pannacotta?

orangina · 28/02/2018 21:49

Or a sorbet?

caprifun · 28/02/2018 21:50

Sorbet or a tropical fruit salad

AlannaOfTrebond · 28/02/2018 22:13

Pineapple with mint and lime sugar. Chop up pineapple and serve dusted with sugar you've whizzed up with mint leaves and squeeze fresh lime over the top.

Ooh lots of replies!

Yes Lady I'll PM you the recipe. Smile

Something cool seems to be the theme here... I'll have a look in my Mary Berry recipe book as well and see what I can find. I quite like Alanna's idea... I'll see what I can find! Thanks everyone!

Mary Berry has a brilliant and very easy home made ice cream recipe.

It isn't Indian, but tiramisu is a favourite in our house.

DayKay · 01/03/2018 07:20

I agree with something cool. Trifle is very popular in a lot of Asian households I know.

BillywigSting · 01/03/2018 07:22

Baklava or pistachio ice cream

Something mango or coconut

I'm very jealous, I'm the only one in my house who likes loves Indian food and I never get it!

BoredOnMatLeave · 01/03/2018 07:48

I always make key lime pie after a curry (retro I know)

sashh · 01/03/2018 07:57

cdtaylornats

That's what I came to say.

Also Jelabis, with or without icecream.

Kheer or ras malai would go well too.

LoniceraJaponica · 01/03/2018 08:39

BillywigSting can you not treat yourself to a ready meal curry now and again and give your family something else? M & S do nice curries, but my absolute favourite is the Co-op chicken makhani with beetroot rice. It is lush.

Mini meringues with raspberries
Lemon tart
Ice cream with warm toffee sauce
Individual fruit jellies
Apple and mango crumble

UnaOfStormhold · 01/03/2018 09:03

If you fancy something warm, firni is delicious - indian rice pudding with rose, cardamom and pistachio.

Afternoon · 01/03/2018 09:29

That sounds delicious Una.

Argeles · 01/03/2018 09:35

Nimish (Rick Stein recipe online is great).

Mango mousse.

Semia (milk and vermicelli pudding, best served cold).

Kulfi.

Yak dar behesht (ice in heaven) - Persian recipe (find online).

Bastani (Persian rose water and saffron ice cream). If you don’t have any Iranian shops nearby, you can make a similar flavour by mixing vanilla ice cream and adding some cooled down saffron steeped water and rose water.
