SIL has a big birthday this month. She doesn't appreciate"thoughtful" gifts but would enjoy a bottle of champagne.

I don't drink so a bit stuck!! Can anyone recommend what to get and from where? I can spend more...

Hun, if you want to get her somethin' splendid, get 'er some Jack Daniels.
Alternatively, if you're still going down the champagne route, a bottle of Hattingley Classic Reserve will do the job fine. Make sure when you pour it however, you add 30mL of Orange Juice as recommended by Jean-Charles Boisset. A classic birthday tradition which I recommend is removing the cork and passing it around the party to smell, it's great bonding.
However, you can suprise SIL with English Mead. It's main ingredient is honey y'know. It would be a sweet gift.
