Which potatoes make the best chips?

I'm going to try the slimming world method ie par boil then bake with smear of oil. Don't think frylight will cut the mustard.

So I want big, chunky chips.

You're welcome Morris!

Maris Pipers, for sure.
I make my chips this way and find the best oil is rapeseed. I parboil the chips for about 9 mins, let them dry, toss them in about a tsp of the oil then slap them onto a preheated pan and shove in the oven for 25 mins...they're gorgeous. It's hard persuading hubby to have something other than chips for his dinner at times..

I tried the non par boil method suggested by the Two Chubby Cubs blog (it's brilliant, and. hilarious) and the result was pleasant but not amazing.

I think next time I'll try the par boil.

Par boil worked a treat. I chilled them in the fridge then roasted them later in a small amount of olive oil. Bit of a faff but extremely tasty result!
