Quick question: what spice or herb in cheese straws?

Of course, cooking lesson tomorrow and the ingredients list has just come home.
I have everything except the poppy seeds which are apparently optional but DD wants an alternative: I have a fairly well stocked herb and spice cupboard. What will go well in cheese straws?
cumin seed? brown mustard seeds? caraway? My mind is blank!
Thanks

Mustard powder or cayenne

Thanks. As they asked for poppy seeds I was presuming it was to sprinkle on, but yes, mustard seems the best bet.

Or sesame seeds are my fave

A pinch of dried rosemary, sage, oregano or thyme can work, too - not al at once, mind!

If you have Parmesan that would work too.
