Thai curry let down

Hi,

DH has just gone to the trouble of making homemade red Thai paste using garlic, onion, ginger, chilli, lemon grass, lime zest etc. He made it following the bbc good food recipe and expectations were high!

But it was crap. We've tried so many shop bought pastes and been disappointed, assume making it would be the answer.

Can anyone recommend a really good / gourmet Thai paste that we can buy? We love Thai food, and even did a cookery course there whilst on honeymoon but never seem to get anywhere near the flavour we want.

Any tips / recommendations?

Thanks Wine

can highly recommend David Thompson's books - everything I've made from them comes out tasting divine
