I haven't had it for so long, I have a craving for it!

Any tips on making it crispy but not feeling like it's dripping in oil? Is it the hotter the oil the better?!

Yes, get the oil really hot before putting the bread in. You need more oil than you think! A good 2cm or so in the bottom of a frying pan, really hot and bread in.

we always wet the bread -

well, wet your hands and pat the bread before putting it in a hot pan with just a little oil here! But yes it needs to be very hot.

Christ don’t put wet bread in boiling hot oil! Sure fire way to start a pan fire, Beyond please stop doing that!

I'm 50, never had a pan fire - it is not sopping. I put wet potatoes in too.

I do not use a lot of oil.
