Just had the loveliest tea

I totally forgot how nice something on toast is as a meal.

I'm in a bit of a rush tonight so thought I'd have toast, I then realised I had left over beef and mushroom stroganoff in the fridge, re heated and plonked on top of thick cut toasted whole meal bread. My word, nicest tea I have had in ages, could eat it again!

I'm now looking for new toast toppers ..... what's yours ?

Ooh homefromworklate I have to try a steak pie sandwich.
How do you make it? With kidney? Straight from the oven then shove it into a slice of bread and butter?pastry on?im salivating thinking about it. Oh red wine?

I love things on toast! Awesome thread.
Some of my faves:

• cheese on toast with a poached egg on top and a drizzle of chilli sauce (amazing). Add slices of avocado also - heaven. Best on toasted regular white sliced.
• Creamed mushrooms with a crumble of stilton on top, and rocket leaves. Best on toasted sourdough.
• Scrambled egg with chopped sauteed red pepper and some grated parmesan. Good with any toast.
• Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, on toasted bagel.
• Egg mayo with crispy bacon, good on toasted wholemeal.
• not forgetting Welsh Rarebit - divine on thick sliced toasted farmhouse loaf. Add a poached egg for Buck rarebit.

Snotato sadly it doesn't sounds appetising said out loud, but a steak pukka pie in a bread cake, it was the post night club burger van man that suggested it! Although, now my clubbing days are behind me, I'm known to have sly slice of bread with my steak pie tea, just fill the slice of bread with steak pie and fold!

Mmmm did someone mention sourdough? My favourite bread to toast.

Southern fried chicken flavoured super noodles. On toast. With a lot of grated cheddar on top.

YY to sardines with lots of lemon so the toast goes a bit soggy!

Avocado and bacon is good too.

Qvar oh I love super noddles stuffed in Pitta breads.

Gosh no not sardines people-how about beans or cheese or beans and cheese,or chocolate spread,or marsh mallow fluff,or scrambled eggs,or tinned tomatoes,or curry,or chilli or anything but fish.
