£20 M & S voucher...What would you buy?

Hi, I don't usually shop for food in M & S but have got a £20 voucher to use and want to get the best value I can out of it. What would you spend £20 on?

Two dine in for £10, get the chickens and freeze one...

Wine

Have a look at their meat offers. They often have 3 for £10 on various meat and fish that is normally £5-£6 a pack. When that's on I stock up on their free range chicken, salmon etc and freeze it.

Crabapple - the dine in for £10 idea's good (and means wine!) So I might get that with £10 of it and then spend the other £10 on theflis' meat/fish offer suggestion. Thank you all for helping.

Two can dine is great value if you want a lovely ‘special’ meal at home.

Otherwise, 3 for £10 on meat.

There is usually a curry meal deal for £10, the Thai and other oriental dishes are very nice; there are lots of lunch foods or light dinner dishes such as quiches included in a 3 for 7 deal (my favourite quiche is the smoked salmon and broccoli). If you need some nice ready meals there are good deals on those too across various cuisines - British traditional, Italian, family size bakes, etc. The king prawn bucatini is very nice. I like the mandarin trifle as a lovely light pudding.

Thanks Holger, I'll have a look at all those. All helpful suggestions as I'm pretty unfamiliar with m and s, much more of an Aldi girl myself but with Jan payday being a long time coming, I thought it'd be wise to spend the vouchers on sensible food for the week. I'll let you know what I get....

Fruit is expensive (but nice), but there are deals too, so if you pick carefully you can bring the cost down. Same for veg but again there are deals on veg packets or salads.

One thing to be aware of, their food is generally quite short dated (I think that’s good thing - they probably put less crap in it), so just check the dates on everything to make sure you get the longest date possible. If you forget to look you can quite easily come away with quite a few things that are only a couple of days to BBE/use by.

Another important thing I always do is if there is a 3 for £7 deal (or whatever) I only ever pick items that are specifically stickered, on the item itself, as otherwise I’ve found it doesn’t always apply the discount at the till.

Oh yes, always check the offers on pack / shelf then double check at the till as I have often found they are not logged on the system properly and I have been overcharged, and had to go back to the till to have it corrected.

Notice at a lot of places including M&S will have 3 for 2 deal, but right next to it 3 for £7 so check the things you pick are all on the same offer.

I'd hold on for the Valentine's 2 can dine. Even if you're not planning a romantic meal it's bound to be good.

Or keep it for a nice picnic.

If you can get there in the mornings they often have massively reduced fruit and veg. Fantastic value. I often get a weeks supply for less than £10.
