How long will chicken casserole keep in the fridge?

I know that this is a silly question but I have 8 coming for lunch on Sunday and I have unexpectedly got some time at home today and want to crack on and cook the stew now.

But am dithering - should I cook and then freeze and then defrost over night Sat (which seems like a lot of faff) or can I just keep in the fridge?

I'm only worrying because one of the guests is my 86 year old MIL who has had numerous health problems over the last year and I'd not forgive myself if I made her ill!

It will be absolutely fine.
Just make sure you cool it down and get it into the fridge after it’s cooked and then ensure it’s up to 80 c when you reheat it.
Better to reheat it in a pan or the oven rather than a microwave and don’t be in a rush to reheat.....better to have it on a lower setting for a slightly longer period to ensure all meat is thoroughly reheated.

Up to 3 days in the fridge is absolutely fine.

So glad I saw this as I slow cooked a beautiful chicken and root veg casserole on Thursday. Anyway it ended up in the fridge and I really fancy it today so now I can yay!

Casserole is always nicer when made in advance and eaten a few days later
