Really boring but would you put red peppers chopped up in a chilli con carne?
There's some in the fridge that need using, but I don't know if it would make it better or worse!

Yes. I use them all the time in chilli. It fact my favourite recipe asks for 6 peppers!

MsHarry · 23/01/2018 16:43

Yes I always put green or red peppers in a chilli.

Fekko · 23/01/2018 16:44

No. Wrong colour - green is much prettier...

CottonSock · 23/01/2018 16:45

Always

brownelephant · 23/01/2018 16:45

any colour peppers is fine. they don't really taste much different.

MsHarry · 23/01/2018 16:45

Won’t matter though. Red pepper is sweeter .

MsHarry · 23/01/2018 16:46

OP you’re not much of a risk taker are you? Just do it it’s how you learn.

blueskyinmarch · 23/01/2018 16:47

Of course it is fine. I put peppers of any colour in my chilli.

Purplerain101 · 23/01/2018 16:47

Yep. Done it loads of times. They only taste a little sweeter compared to green and don’t make much difference to the overall flavour

SummerRoberts · 23/01/2018 16:51

Hahaha no I'm not a risk taker! I must sound like a right sad act Grin
Ok red peppers will be going in!

I always put peppers into chilli

milkmoustache · 23/01/2018 18:35

I dare you to add a tablespoon of cocoa powder to your chilli next time... It makes it taste richer but with no chocolate flavour at all.

mailfuckoff · 23/01/2018 18:37

I put baked beans in my chilli as we had no kidney beans. Dc didn't notice any difference but it tasted odd to me

Giraffey1 · 23/01/2018 18:39

Yep, use ‘em up!

theaveragewife · 23/01/2018 18:41

A chilli is not a chilli without a red and green pepper in my house! Enjoy!

MsHarry · 23/01/2018 18:53

I like it with cumin seeds fried with the onions. Adds a lovely flavour.

MadeOfPaper · 31/01/2018 09:05

I chop up a jar of the little piquillo peppers. They add a lovely bit of sweetness and bite.

kateandme · 31/01/2018 21:25

moochypooch · 31/01/2018 21:30

slippermaiden · 31/01/2018 22:15
