S o was in a cafe with my friend and her ds's and my ds age 3 and dd and just lost it when ds would not eat any dinner ended up trying to force feed him a spoonful as I am just so sick of the food issue.I know I was being a terrible mum but just for once I wanted a nice mealtime without the stress.Aaargh.He ate one spoon of dinner then it all went pear shaped.I now feel terribly guilty.

I do sympathise. My ds is 2.6 and is being sooooo fickle at the moment, sometimes I find it very stressful indeed. Try not to worry!

did you let him choose what he wanted? Tbh wehn I'm out with 3 year old ds I always order the one thing i know he'll eat. I leave the food battles for at home

OK you have prob heard it all before but it is an issue about control and the fact you 'lost it' made him win!

I am only saying this cos we are going thru it with ds2 atm and it drives me crazy but I will not shout...I will not shout...I will not shout (my mantra)

He is 2.7.

He had porridge for breakfast and an orange!! (unheard of) at a cafe today. He refused his cheese sandwich at lunch but ate some cucumber and a few hulahoops.

By teatime he was begging me for food and I made a plainish chinese rice thing for dinner which he ate followed by strawberries and cream.

He is such a pain with food but i have decided not to shout as it depresses me and he wins by having so much attention. I have also stopped wasting money by buying him much in restaurants or cafes and he can eat off my plate!
