American SIL's recipe

1 + 3/4 cup flour
2/3 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup mashed banana (2-3 depending on size)
1/3 cup butter or marge
2 tablespoons milk
2 eggs
1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Combine 1 cup of the flour with dry ingredients. Add banana, butter and milk. Beat with electric mixer on low speed then high speed for 2 mins.
Add eggs and remaining flour and beat until blended. (Add nuts)

Gas Mark 4 for 1 hr or until skewer comes out clean.

I had half a bag of chocolate chips near to use by date and lobbed those instead of the nuts. Yummy.

Yes, just the otherside of the channel in northern France. My bro is the other side of the pond hence the American SIL.

my sister is married to a frenchman has lived there over 17 years now she is west Lezay nearest biggest town would be Celles sur belle /Poitier. poor spelling have no french. infact not a very good command of the english language. Perhaps because I am irish .

I think there are a lot of English speakers in that area. It's supposed to be very pretty.

CHOCOLATE BANANA BREAD:

1 1/4cups SR Flour
1tsp cinnamon
30g butter - 1tbsp and 2 teaspoons worth
1/2 cup caster sugar

1 egg, lightly beaten
1 medium banana ? mashed
1/4 cup milk ( skim if you like)
50g dark chocolate bits - I jsut sprinkle in some never weigh them.

  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees Celsius
  2. Sift the flour and cinnamon into a medium bowl and using your fingertips rub in the butter
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients ? sugar, splenda, banana, egg, milk and choc bits
  4. Pour into a prepared loaf tin.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until cooked.
  6. Cool and cut into slices ready to serve.
rollonsummerholidays · 03/05/2007 12:59

silly question but what is spenda? nice recipe thanks might have to get choc chips can i use easter eggs still a few lurking?

OP posts:
rollonsummerholidays · 03/05/2007 12:59

oops splenda

OP posts:
eidsvold · 03/05/2007 22:36

splenda is an artificial sweetner - I took it out of the ingredients and forgot to take it out of the recipe. Just ignore that - usually you can use 1/4 cup caster sugar and 1/4 artificial sweetner. I just use 1/2 cup caster sugar.
