Sticking sprinkles to cake

I’m making a cake which will be covered in sprinkles - the small hundreds and thousands kind.

I’m planning to cover the cake with chocolate ganache. Is it best to stick the sprinkles directly to that or ice with sugarpaste then paint with edible glue? I’m a bit worried about the chocolate colour showing through the sprinkles.

Thanks

Does it need to be chocolate? I'd just do glacé icing and get the sprinkles on quick while it's wet. Or plain buttercream. They do tend to roll off near the edges though.

That’s a good idea, it’s two tiers so she can have ganache on the other bit and I’ll cover that with fondant. Cake is black, white and silver.

Thanks!
