Slow or Multi-Cooker or neither?

Has anyone got one of these?

DH wants to get me a slow cooker for a late Christmas present and saw this one with a discount but I don't have a clue where to start or whether it would be worthwhile. Do people actually use all the extra functions offered by a multi cooker like this or is it better to get a simple slow cooker that just does the one thing but well? Money isn't really the issue just whether it's a sensible purchase - are there better versions out there?

We are a family of 2 adults and 3 older teens so I know capacity can be an issue with some models.

I can see that it might be good with a busy house for everyone to be able to scoop out some dinner when they get home, but I cant get over the size of the thing . I wont mind if it becomes a friend I use a lot but don't want it to join the graveyard of rarely used, expensive large kitchen equipment in my utility room!

That's what I'm worried about - seems to always be a fair split between slow cooker lovers and haters so wondered if the other functions might swing the balance.
