What can I do with a tin of chestnuts?

Hi all. I won a Christmas food hamper in the raffle at our DDs nursery. One of the things inside is a tin of chestnuts. I've never cooked with chestnuts before and don't know what to do with them. Has anyone got any recipe ideas that are:

  1. Simple and not too expensive.
  2. Vegetarian.

I'm thinking maybe some sort of pie? But open to other ideas.

Chop them up and add them to a mushroom risotto. It's an autumn favourite in our (non-veggie) house!

Roast them and have them with mulled wine/hot drinks as an evening snack.

Lorraine Pascale does a chestnut and mushroom baked risotto and it’s bloody gorgeous.

There is a fab recipe in the Nick Knowles vegetarian recipe book that is basically roasted butternut squash, boiled pearl barley, fried onions, chestnuts, rosemary and parsley and then stir in a dressing of garlic, Dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar and olive oil - bloody lovely!
