How to stop a skin forming on cooling custard!

I have just made two pints of custard for my Christmas trifle which is now cooling. I have covered it in clingfilm but it looks like a skin is forming on top, does anyone have any tips on how I could avoid this please?

The trick is to press the cling film down onto the top of the custard so there’s no gap between custard and clingfilm- it’s the Air that causes the skin to form Xmas Smile

As moomin said; I used to work in catering and that's what we used to do but with greaseproof!

Scrunch up greaseproof, wet the side that will touch the custard. Lay the greaseproof over the custard with no air in between.

A light sprinkling of sugar also helps, my grandma always did this.
