Dough hook attachment?

Hi,
I'm planning on making cinnamon rolls in my slow cooker at the weekend and the dough recipe says I need a dough hook attachment for my mixer. I don't have one! I only have the metal spinny blade thing, which I wonder is more designed for chopping than mixing. Will this do or would I be better mixing by hand?

Mix by hand. You'll have to knead it for longer than it would take in the mixer.

Does the recipe give an option for kneading?
