easy choc birthday cake recipe please!

I am baking birthday cake for DSD's 7th birthday party with her dad this week. She loves chocolate cake but I usually just do a victoria sponge but would like to bake a cake she will want to eat! Please does anyone have a choc cake recipe that might work? And if so, how long do you normally leave it before icing? Thank you

I like BBC Good Food's Ultimate Chocolate cake. You don't have to cut it into three, it's too fiddly. Two will do or even leave whole. The icing is really easy, just cream and chocolate, or you can cheat and buy Betty Crocker's ready made icing.

Nigella’s chocolate fudge cake every time.

Chocolate oil cake, its a really runny mixture but go with it, it's very moist and chocolatey. I turn out onto a cooling rack and ice once completely cold, either with buttercream or just glacé icing with cocoa powder in it. Cover with choc buttons, sweets or anything else you fancy. Very easy...

Grease and flour an 8 inch deep cake tin, or 2 shallower sandwich tins.

Mix all the following in a big bowl -
7oz plain flour
1oz cocoa powder
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
1tsp baking powder
5oz caster sugar
2tbsp golden syrup
2 large eggs
Quarter of a pint sunflower or mild olive oil
Quarter of a pint of milk

Cook on 140 (fan oven) for 55 mins if one deep cake, or 35 mins of 2 shallower cakes.

Easy chocolate fudge cake

8oz plain fl
12oz caster sugar
3oz cocoa
1.5 tsp board
1.5tsp baking powder
2 eggs
250ml milk
125ml oil
250ml boiling water

All in the mixer together
Bake in 2 8" tins for 30-40 mins at 180
Fill and top with betty Crocker fudge icing

So Easy, delicious and keeps well

Just make your normal Victoria sponge but swap 25g of flour for cocoa powder. And make chocolate buttercream filing and for on top. Then just decorate with favorite sweets or chocolate - chocolate drops or maltesers are easy.

Honestly a brilliant chocolate cake is Betty Crocker - the mix and the icing. I've commented a few times recently how delicious chocolate bday cakes have been and everyone seems to do Betty Crocker.
