am rubbish at them
they either get completely overcooked and are all jacket
or they fall to bits
or they are rock hard in the middle.

how big should I cook them? shoud I parboil them before putting them in the oven? do you brush them with olive oil or what?

Buy them in a bag from Sainsburys!

Cut the potatoes into wedges and toss them in a bowl with olive oil and salt and a bit of cayenne/chilli powder and then just cook them on high for around 20 minutes. Ususally works for me. Don't cut them too thin.

And lay them out on a baking sheet skin side down iyswim

toss them in a bowl! I like your thinking.

I just cut them into wedges, any size really then I put in a big bowl and toss in some oil olive or rapeseed, I think the latter might work better. Preheat the oven to 220 or a bit hotter, this is key and cook until they look done about half an hour.

Wash your spuds, cut them in half, then quarter them. If you think they look too big then quarter them again, though I never do.

You can parboil them, but again I never do.

Put a little olive oil in bag, add your wedges & shake, making sure they all get coated.

Put whatever you are putting on them in too & shake. (Or if not coasting with anything that's fine)

Pre-heat a baking tray with a little OO in the oven & then chuck the wedges on to it.

Cook them for about 20 mins & keep checking. I give mine about 45 mins & they are usually ready

cut potatoes into 8
or 6 depending on size

roll in olive oil (ooer)

put in oven for 35-45 mins at 200c

if doing for girls I don't put anything on them, chilli powder, cumin and pepper for me and dh (add to the oil first so it mixes)

I turn mine round periodically too

start skin side down
then to one side, then do other

mine won't eat them if the skin is too hard

Do jacket potatoes, either in the oven or the microwave, then leave them to cool. Cut into wedge shapes then fry.

They will be gorgeous. Best to do the jackets the day before you need them and leave them in the fridge overnight.

Squonk you win the award for the most califoric wedges, do you put them in batter and serve them with deep fried mars bars as well?
Must say deep fried wedges do sound nice, you lot have made me hungry now I might do some tonight!

fryalot · 19/04/2007 12:52
