I'm making chilli in the slow cooker but seemed to have a brain fart and forgot to Brown the mince. It's now all mixed up so too late to Brown it. Will it matter?

Not at all. I never bother. There's no point having a slow cooker if you end up dirtying up other pots and pans too!

I never Brown mince now after I too forgot once.
It never made any difference so I stopped and saved myself an extra job.
It'll be absolutely fine Smile

It depends whether you are happy to have all the fat left in. Even lean mince produces a lot of fat that can be drained off after browning. Eeurgh. I'd rather another dirty saucepan Grin

I'm with hippy re the fat. Is will be ok to eat but it will be greasy.

StupidSlimyGit · 25/11/2017 10:58

You will need to skim the fat off the top when it's cooked but that's all, I never brown it if it's going in the slow cooker.
