Quick help! What to serve with fishcakes?

I'm making fish cakes for dinner tonight but just realised I don't know what to serve them with! I've just been shopping as well Hmm

Don't really fancy doing chips as they contain potatoes. Needs to be suitable for 8.5 month old as well.

Any idea what to serve with fishcakes?

Salad? Or cooked veg?

Crispbutty · 17/11/2017 12:31

At home I do them with chips and peas.

At work with salad and chilli sauce.

We have butternut squash wedges!

Gotta be peas!

AdaColeman · 17/11/2017 12:35

Peas, or mushy peas.
Bread and butter.
Sweet potato or celeriac mash.
Mixed green veg, broccoli Roman cauliflower.
Cauliflower cheese.
Macaroni cheese.
Caponata.
Aubergine parmigiana.

I usually have salad or a selection of cooked vegetables. Unless you are stingy with your fishcakes you don't need chips with them.

Another vote for peas.

Pea purée. Defrost frozen peas, blend with a dollop of mint sauce, double cream or creme fraiche, season, reheat in microwave.
