Hello mumsnetters, can I ask for advice on making tasty simple food in the slow cooker that I can leave on all day. I have only done 2 things so far and they didn't really taste of anything.... what are the tricks here and can I just put a joint of meat in?

Any advice welcomed!

I'm also new to the slow cooker and keep putting too much liquid in!! My beef stew isn't tasting of much so I've chucked another stock cube in and some garlic, will thicken up with gravy granules at the end.

Slow cookers are a compromise in general, they're hard to get right. Cheap ones are generally pretty poor. I would recommend reading reviews and see if they recommend each slow cooker for your particular use case!
