Everything! No roast should he without Yorkshires and pigs in blankets. Oh and cabbage.

Highlove · 31/10/2017 21:19

You cannot have Yorkshires with roast chicken.

Bread sauce is a must. And proper, homemade gravy with proper stock.

mumonashoestring · 31/10/2017 21:21

Stuffing, pigs in blankets, redcurrant jelly, roasted potatoes, parsnips and onions, steamed carrots or Brussels, and gravy you could stand a pole in Grin

Brussels sprouts fried with bacon.

Chewbecca · 31/10/2017 21:27

Roast pots, stuffing & gravy made with the pan juices.

Veg all depends on the time of year so whatever is in season. Got to be 4. Maybe leeks, carrots, cauli and courgette. As winter approaches, more parsnips, Brussels & winter veg, maybe roasted celeriac and mashed swede.

No yorkies with chicken.

AdaColeman · 31/10/2017 21:27

Sage and onion stuffing, or if you want to make the bird feed more people, sausagemeat and herb stuffing.
Pigs in blankets, red currant jelly, spicey home made bread sauce, prunes wrapped in bacon, good gravy.

Yorkshire puddings play no part at all in a roast chicken dinner, and should never be included.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 31/10/2017 21:35

Always Yorkies here. Carrots, leeks, mashed swede, roast potatoes, homemade gravy. Nothing sweet so no parsnips or redcurrant jelly or similar. Never bread sauce either.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 31/10/2017 21:36

Roast isn't a roast without Yorkshires, took me a long time to convince DM that but she got there eventually

Geegee4 · 31/10/2017 21:38

Roasted carrots with honey and thyme, mash or roasted sweet potatoes...

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 31/10/2017 21:41

Don't ruin a good roast with bread sauce 🤢

TinklyLittleLaugh · 01/11/2017 00:30

To be honest, when I roast a chicken, we mostly have it with salad and something like baked potatoes or sweet potato fries. I'm not a big fan of traditional roast dinners.

Growingboys · 02/11/2017 23:16

Bread sauce, made properly with onion and cloves, is essential.

No to Yorkshire puds.

Yes to stuffing, pigs in blankets, and gravy.

jenandjess · 03/11/2017 17:32

Lovely homemade bread sauce, stuffing, celery or cauliflower in white sauce and mashed/creamed potatoes .... and a lovely desert then the afternoon spent in front of the fire!

BluthsFrozenBananas · 03/11/2017 17:39

Bread sauce, stuffing, Yorkshires, pigs in blankets, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, Savoy cabbage, carrots and gravy.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 03/11/2017 17:42

Cauliflower cheese

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 03/11/2017 17:43

All of the above, plus lingonberry jam! It works with everything, but especially chicken.

TheOriginalNNB · 03/11/2017 17:44

Onion sauce

BlackForestCake · 04/11/2017 10:41

Why can't you have Yorkshire puddings with chicken?

Bonez · 04/11/2017 11:22

Roasted cooked in goose fat 😋

Bonez · 04/11/2017 11:26

Roasties*

Loctite · 04/11/2017 13:14

We have roast chicken, garlic and rosemary roast potatoes, oregano roast carrots, sage and onion stuffing (cooked in a dish), marrowfat peas, sometimes cauliflower cheese, real gravy!

In fact we are having this tomorrow - but no cauliflower cheese
