For roasted vegetables do I preheat the oven or the tin as well?

I’m going to roast chopped vegetables in olive oil. Do I just preheat the oven or oven and tray?

Sorry I’m a rubbish cook and google and MN search just confused me.

I just pre heat the oven but not the tray. Unlike roast potatoes/parsnips etc.

A sprinkling of dried chilli flakes is nice if you want a bit of heat.

I preheat the oil in the tray.

Or griddle the veg.

Either will work fine! Do it one way this time and another way next time. Salt and pepper on. Spray oil or real oil. Any way will be delishSmile

I preheat the tray and the oil for starchy things but not for regular veg.

I also spoon over a little stock halfway through. Seems to make them nice.

Thanks - this time I’ll try hearing the oven. I’m not in a rush so if it takes longer that’s fine.
