What's your favourite simple comfort food?

Just about to make myself crumpets with proper butter and homemade plum jam (can't take the credit for the jam, was a gift from a friend) What's your favourite simple/basic comfort food?

Macaroni cheese, spaghetti carbonara or stew and dumplings.

Feel free to judge me - toast, butter, marmite, melt cheese on top with sliced tomatoes and then add ketchup.

This thread is GLoRIoUs. And yet I can’t think of my favourite simple comfort food. Will ponder.

Homemade rice pudding or casserole with dumplings

Rice pudding from a tin.

baked spud with the outside all crispy & the inside scooped and mashed with loads of proper butter, topped with tuna, onions, sweetcorn, mayo, chilli jam (made by mum, amazing!) and grated cheddar. Shoved back in the oven till the cheese melts.

And ^yes yes yes^ to suet dumplings in a huge pot of lobscows.

Pasta with loads of butter and black pepper

I’ve been throwing up all night so I’ve just had my comfort food, Heinz chicken soup,in a big mug

Heinz tomato soup with white bread and proper butter..for dunking.

Nutella toasted sandwiches

Scrambled or fried eggs ok potato waffles with tomato sauce

Jacket potatoes with a ton of butter

Just carbs. And butter really

I love

Heinz tomato soup, but with a big cheese butty to dip in.

Chips and gravy (really thick gravy though, none of the watery stuff)

Cheese on toast with ketchup

Pepperoni pizza

Potato cakes with lashings of butter and a mug of tea

Rice pudding (hold the jam)

Lemon meringue pie (warm)

Hot chocolate with squirty cream and marshmallows.

Tea and toast with real butter 😊

Fried egg sandwich or scrambled eggs on toast.
Egg & chips
Cheese on toast
Cheesy potato bake or dauphinoise potatoes
Cheesy pasta bake
Tea and jam toast

Poached eggs on buttered toast with just a smear of marmite.
Mashed potatoes with butter and leeks (faggots or sausages and gravy optional).
dhal with chapati

How on earth could I forget:

tomato soup with crust bread and butter for dipping
Dauphinoise potatoes
Cheesy mash
Chips with gravy
Cheesy chips
Rice pudding from the tin
Apple crumble and custard
Mushroom risotto

I have a lot of comfort foods

Jacket potato with butter and cheese, beans if I am in the mood.

Any savoury pie with pastry, mash and peas.

Roast with all the trimmings

Bangers, mash, onion gravy

Bacon butty

Hot dog

Yum

Oooo so many!
Dippy egg (fried) with chips and red sauce.
Baked potato with a crispy skin, Branston beans and lashings of grated mature cheddar cheese
Boiled egg sandwich (lots of salt) with a bit of mayo
Crispy bacon sandwich with brown sauce
Hot lemon merengue pie and thick cream
Home made apple crumble and custard
Bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk (the bigger the better!)

Cheesy mash with crispy bacon and fried onions mixed into it. Nom nom nom

Extra soft white bread, buttered with real butter, filled with fried egg and crispy bacon, cup of tea with sugar.
