Egg-free bread

We have a student coming to stay who is allergic to eggs, soy and nuts. Does anyone know of any readily available bread that she could eat. Egg allergy is severe! Thanks in advance

I've never heard of bread having egg whites in! I'd ask Sainsbury again, maybe on their fb page, and see what they say?

Bakery bread might have an eggwash on the top? Sliced loaves less likely and will be safer as allergens would be identified in the ingredients.

That is a link to Sainsbury website and ingredients of one of their loaves, they put allergens in bold, no egg showing on that list.

Get a breadmaker?
Generally bread doesn't contain egg, but if it is a serious allergy you are right to question it.

Tesco do a nice oat and barley one. Can't see any dodgy ingredients in there. Didnt think egg was in bread tbh

Most breads will be egg free, but few are soy free as soya flour is often used in mass produced bread. Sainsbury's didn't stock any own brand soya free bread last time I looked.

Waitrose essentials brown sliced loaf is egg & soya free though. Tesco finest bloomers are I think as well

Eggs are generally used in bread for leavening purposes! It also helps with even out the texture.

That Tesco one has no soya, eggs or nuts

normal bread is usually egg free. but with an allergy like this it's best to buy packaged food so the person can check the labels.

baps, hot dog rolls and brioche - check the pack, soft/sweet/rich breads sometimes contain egg.

New york Bagels look ok too
