Instant Pot v Slow Cooker

Was all set to buy a slow cooker when I noticed a thread on Mumsnet about the Instant Pot. Had never heard of them before. Now I am torn and don't know which one to buy.

I know the Instant Pot has a slow cooking function, but reviews on here suggest for slow cooking it is not as good as an actual slow cooker, but then by the sound of the Instant Pot things I would normally slow cook you can cook in around an hour anyway in the IP and get the same results.

I am put off by having to prep the slow cooker in the mornings and having food smells around the house all day.

Can anyone help me decide?

Can’t help you decide but I quite like the food smells. Came home today to a smoked ham cooked all day in Dr Pepper. Was delicious

I have IP and actually use it loads... more than 3 times a week... sometimes twice a day, it's versatile and quick and good. Have never used a slow cooker though... so can't compare! Good luck!
