Leaving chicken out all night - is this ok?

I cooked chicken in honey and soy sauce in the oven tonight. We ended up not eating it in the end as a few things came up. It's still too hot to put in the fridge. Is it safe to leave out all night (covered), put in the fridge tomorrow morning then reheat tomorrow night? Or will I poison us all??

It should be totally fine so long as it is covered and you reheat it thoroughly tomorrow. No drama at all.

I wouldn't if your kitchen is warm!!! Put it into another COLD container, put some Cold water in a bigger container and sit the first one inside the bigger one, it'll cool it quickly then cover and put in the fridge, better safe than sorry!!

The fridge will cope....just cover it and pop it inGrin

Seeyamonday · 14/09/2017 21:31

Aye and it'll heat everything in your fridge!

Put it in the fridge in a bit.

90 minutes apparently to cool and fridge, I wouldn't personally x not worth it

RubyGoat · 14/09/2017 21:34

I often do Seeyamonday's suggestion, in a deep lidded dish, in about 2 inches of water in the sink. Works to cool rice down as well.

They do recommend not putting hot foods straight into the fridge as the fridge has to use more power than usual to keep cool.

I wouldn't eat chicken that had been left out overnight though, I'd just put it into the fridge as it is. Better safe than sorry

If you do what I suggested you'll be fine (professional cook), takes about half an hour, you could add ice to the water and it'll be quicker. Might seem a bit of a faff but it's better than getting campilobacter which can make you ill for weeks X

Thanks everyone. Following advice I cooled it with ice and put it in the fridge.
