If you were going to make cream egg ice cream, and you use a basic vanilla recipe how many cream eggs would you put in do you think? Anybody tried to make this or know of a recipe?

Someone here has tried - and apparently Cadbury's are bringing out a limited edition one , so you could just buy some.

I'd make Creme Egg Ripple ie make plain icecream (just sweet and milky, no added vanilla), freeze/whisk/freeze as normal, then bash up some Creme Eggs and stir the sticky mess through the icecream and freeze again.

Probably buy 6 creme eggs, add one at a time till it looked rippley enough, then eat any spares .

i think i'd follow that recipe but do it with vanilla rather than chocolate.

AitchTwoOh · 04/04/2007 18:11

yes mrs b, not too much vanilla.

Thanks will attempt for the weekend and let you know what it turns out like. what about if I melted them instead of chopped them? Too messy?

I think if you melted them you'd run the risk of blending the white bit, the yellow bit and the chocolate into a less appetising beige pulp...

AitchTwoOh · 05/04/2007 11:03

i think freezing them then chopping is the best idea, as per the recipe.

do you have a good recipe for normal ice cream (any flavour) that doesn't require an ice cream maker?

that recipe looks fabulous but the bit at the end says use an ice cream maker.

You could use the Cadbury's creme egg bars, prob much easier and quicker to chop up.
