Work lunch prep!

So, my plan is that on a Monday lunchtime I pop to a shop from work, and but my food supply for the week. This will mean healthy eating and I save money not buying rubbish from the tuck shop or over expensive work canteen! I'm thinking sachets of plain porridge for breakfast, carrot sticks and humour for snacks, and nuts. Soup for lunch? Salad and avocado? What else?!

Tins of no drain tuna
Crackers (like Ryvita)
Babybel
Pre cooked meat like ham, chicken, smoked salmon
Microwave rice

Thanks blondie. I don't like packet rice really but I love packet cous cous!

Are you trying to lose weight or just be healthy?

If your trying to lose weight I wouldn't eat houmous, nuts and avocado in one day. Although these are healthy foods these are high in calories.

Also be careful with packet porridge, even plain, they sneak a lot of crap in there!

We frequently have for lunch
salad and ham wraps
salad and either ham, gammon or chicken
Homemade soup - in the winter we love lentil and chorizo soup or potato and leek soup although they get made on a Sunday

If you have a toaster and microwave at work you could buy the snap pots of beans and a loaf and make beans on toast.
If not having as a snack then a packet of wraps that you could fill with grated carrot and humous would be good. Or cream cheese and cucumber would keep well enough.
Have a look at the Heinz creations range of pulses they make a quick and filling lunch.

I need to lose weight really. I could easily eat an avocado and humous together just as a snack so I shan't from now on!

Those Heinz creations sound nice. As long as they're not full of hidden nasties.

And I really should make soup at home. It's so nice and tinned soup is not!

I'm not a fan of the plain microwave rice but I really like the flavoured ones that Tilda do - or the ones with a mix of different grains in them like quinoa

I make lunch daily - mostly stews, curries, pastas....often pulses. I make twice the amount for dinner - it's very easy. Dh and ds, take a flask or a tubberware container - a proper quantity of food with no extras.
