Im vegetarian so find it hard not to load up on carbs I've tried the smoothie thing and I just don't like the texture of them, give me your healthy breakfast ideas please!

Do you have time to cook something? If not, like me, overnight oats are good and filling.

moreismore · 31/08/2017 13:06

Scrambled eggs and avocado/spinach. Smoked salmon if you eat fish? Tomatoes on toast. Peanut butter on whole grain toast.

MoMandaS · 31/08/2017 13:11

Nutty, please could you share your idli sambhar recipe?

QuitMoaning · 31/08/2017 13:13

I am not a vegetarian but my favourite breakfast by a long distance is a fresh poached egg on avocado on sour dough toast.
Superb.
Not sure if good for dieting though.

Overnight oats/porridge
Crumpets, Greek yog, berries and a drizzle of honey

Idli flour mix is found in most good Indian grocers. You just take a few hundred grams, add salt, three or for tbs of yoghurt, a bit of baking powder, water, and let it soak for the morning. Then steam it in wrapped in oiled cloth. I'm not fussed if they don't turn out round (I cut mine into squares/strips) but if you are then you can use egg poachers or an idli steamer.

I use this sambhar recipe:

Forgot to add you should add more baking powder just before steaming and give it a big stir.

Should read soak for the night.

I live off banana pancakes Grin
One banana, two eggs either mashed or stuck in a bullet blender
Cook in a pan, good with Greek yoghurt and berries
