So ... Talk to me about steamed puddings ...

Ok, I'm debating making a steamed pudding, at some point, as I've discovered I can do this with a pyrex bowl? I don't need a special pudding basin?

This recipe looks like a good starting point - is it?

And if so, how much pudding does that make? Is it one of those 1Lish type bowls? Or a massive bowl?

Looks good! I THINK you'll be ok with 1 ltr glass basin. DH does the cooking in this house and he says it'll be ok, so blame him if its not!

Do you have a microwave by any chance? I have a lovely recipe for a microwaveable sponge pudd, which is very easy and syruplicious...?

Here is St Delia's treacle sponge recipe .

Works for me, and yes, in a glass pudding basin.

I do have a microwave ... it does sound like a microwaveable thing, doesn't it, as it's steamed on the hob ...

sorry, thought you meant a real pudding!

Ewww ewww ewww. No offal on my thread please. :-P

(Where I come from, puddings are things like rice pudding, and angel delight (which you can buy ready-made in little pots. yum. they don't need refridgeration either. yum.))

Have you got a steamer? You could do it in there as well.

CadburyCremeSquonk · 30/03/2007 19:01

where I'm from a pudding's a pudding.

I do have a steamer. I'm slightly daunted by the 'steam for 72 hours' thing, though. It seems like a long time. I am used to delayed gratification, I do baking, but cakes never take more than an hour to bake ime.
