Organic low sugar or sugar free baked beans, what do you recommend?

...and no, I don't want to make my own, baked beans are for emergencies when I need quick suppers for DS and I.

Anyone tried the whole earth ones or the suma ones? They're the ones I've seen in the local organic shops around here.

Are they nice? any suggestions?

Thanks

sugar free ones will prob have artificial sweetners in it ( if you're not into that sort of thing.....I'd go for the other ones.)

No the organic whole earth and suma ones don't, they are sweetened with apple juice and honey etc.

Organic food can't contain artificial ingredients (from what I've gathered!)

Thanks though, definately don't want artificial sweeteners! yuk

i always buy the low salt ones dont worry about sugar as you say only emergencies so not such an issue if you get low suger ones they are sweetners but not organic

I checked Heinz last night bizarrely, and their low sugar and low salt ones are fine, no sweeteners at all.

I think both Whole Earth and Suma are really yummy but they are both pretty high in salt, especially the Whole Earth ones

I have got too lazy to make my own lately, so what I do is mix plain tinned beans in with the saucy ones. You can use different varieties, chickpeas, kidney beans, etc. It cuts down on the salt content, makes them go further, and adds nutrition compared with always having haricot beans. Ds complained a bit at first and now doesn't comment

The Whole Earth ones are yummy. As is their peanut butter. But then, I am addicted to salt.

Yes ds will ask for "the crunchy one mummy" which is the Whole Earth salty pb

Get a tin of cheap cheap beans, put them in a colender, and rinse them under the tap!
